Good News: I hear Narnia is back to faith…

Videos No Comments »

If you’re like me, you’ve had a anxious, dreadful feeling for the past six months. Every time I’ve seen a Narnia trailer this year, I’ve been filled with the excitement of seeing C.S. Lewis’ masterpiece on screen, and the dread of seeing his masterpiece mutilated like the previous installment of “Prince Caspian”.

Well, the first reviews of “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” are out, and they have good things to say, including, “It was a real honour for me to attend the Royal Premiere of Narnia, The Voyage of the Dawntreader. The film is beautifully made and suitable for all ages. It takes us back to the wonder and excellence of the first Narnia film, The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe.”

I can’t wait to see it!

Even more…I can’t wait for the BEST of the series to come out: The Horse and His Boy!

First Impressions for the Church

Videos No Comments »

Sometimes I wonder what first impression I’ve made on people. I’m not the most sociable person in the world, and so I often make the mistake of making others feel ignored. However, even when I’m intentional, sometimes I send the wrong message.

The same is true of the church, I think. We constantly fight a battle of others making the first impression for the church on our behalf: mormons and evangelists going door-to-door often make a first impression, church members adding to the traffic on the streets surrounding a person’s destination can make a first impression, and even some of our well-intended signs and services can make an interesting first impression.

Have a laugh at the first impression example below, and then ask yourself, do I know what kind of first impression I’m making on others?

Where is this Movie?

Videos No Comments »

To Save a Life hit box offices this past week, but as someone who looks at movies trailers on a frequent basis, watches the local theaters for good flicks, and is always interested in discussing the next big film, this one has totally escaped my notice…and I don’t think it is because the movie is bad…it’s because the movie is evangelically Christian.

Yahoo does not even reference this movie in it’s section. Apple has a page, but it requires a search. I can only do so much, but if you haven’t seen the trailer or need a movie suggestion, take this one from me. Go see it. I can’t promise it will be amazing, but I can promise that you’ll leave the theater edified, which is more than I can say for most movies in the theater right now…save maybe one I will blog about later, after I have seen it.

Ronald Reagan’s opinion of Govenment-Sponsored Healthcare

Current Events, Videos No Comments »

It was shocking for me to discover recently that Ronald Reagan was recorded in an LP discussing the dangers of a socialized system of medicine. I looked for a transcript of this talk, but was unable to come up with one. Instead, I’ve chosen to link to an excerpt from the LP, that I think is just as relevant for today as it was on the day it was recorded.

If you would like some more perspective on socialized healthcare, please see my previous video post on the subject, along with this post, by Jeremiah Krieger.
