Recently I sent out a short post on understanding homosexuality. Today I’m adding to the lessons learned by adding a link to another insightful talk on the subject of depression.
Unlike other talks on the subject, this is not a Scriptural “how to” sermon on being depressed. It’s not about having a depressed attitude, and beating it by quoting Scripture, serving others, or going to a healing service. It’s about what to do as a Christian when you are physically depressed.
I recommend this talk to EVERYONE, because it shows you how to properly encourage someone who is truly dealing with this problem.

The talk is called “A Christian Looks at Depression”

Texas can be hot…but I didn’t expect it would be this hot. I think my skin is melting off.

Recently I downloaded and began listening to a series of seminars from various sources. One such seminar was at DTS this past spring and spent four hours on the topic of homosexuality.
I started listening with a critical ear, but soonafter, I was unable to stop. Living Hope Ministries really did a great job of exploring a topic that few churches address. I learned a lot about how early childhood experiences of sexual abuse and absentee parents affect us.
While I cannot make the audio availble here or point you to the DTS site (it is currently restricted to student access only) I do want to point you to the Living Hope website (https://livehope.org/resources) and ask you to consider learning more about this if you have an opportunity in the future.
I also promise to follow up with both DTS and Living Hope, in hopes of seeing this content made available publicly.
What are you listening to this summer?

I’m not normally a fan of John Piper. I respect him, and value some of his contributions to the work of the kingdom, but I do not have the pleasure of feeling as if we are connected at the heart, and some do.
However, this video does speak my heart…far more eloquently than I could have said it. So if you are wondering what our response to the abortion issue should be, or how we should treat Obama on this issue, watch and listen:
