Why I Hate Apple Computers…

Articles & Related Thoughts No Comments »

I’m not one to knock another company…but Apple is my exception. I’m getting tired of the trendy norms of my generation and their “you’re not cool if you don’t have one” mentality toward Starbucks, Phones with email, and Apple gadgets. Not to mention, that Apple’s pitiful “we’re better than Microsoft” ads are just getting on my nerves. So here are a few reasons to dislike Apple:

1. The Safari browser sucks…and Apple users know it. I work for a online company that received millions of visits a week. What percentage of users come to our site using Safari? Less than 1%. Mac users use Firefox. Why can’t Apple get its program saavy together and create a decent web browser? And now they want to allow Windows users to install it, hah! Good luck.

2. Need a RAM upgrade? Computer acting funny? It broke? No, you can’t fix it yourself. Take it to the Apple store. Best of luck finding an apple store nearby and getting it fixed in a timely manner! I hope there wasn’t anything incredibly important on there, because if the part is not in stock, you might be in big trouble. Oh, and I hope the repairs are cheap, considering they have to do it. http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/200x/2007/12/03/Hate-Apple-Day

3. I need a free program to… Shareware? Freeware? Not likely. Search the web for a program solution for Windows and you’re likely to find one. Looking to extend the capabilities of your Mac? I can’t help you there.

Current Events…where is the church???

Uncategorized No Comments »

I have had a number of questions this last year…many of them concerning politics. Questions that resemble the following sample:

What does this candidate represent?
What issues really matter in the presidential election?
How should I really understand the economic times?

In the midst of these questions, I have had a rather unsettling lack of clear direction. It seems I can get clear teaching from the church on a lot of spiritual matters, but that I find myself at a loss when it comes to other realms of relevant information. Doesn’t the church care that I do not know how to choose the appropriate political leader? Can’t it assist in educating me regarding what really matters? Read the rest of this entry »

Small Groups are not Biblical…

Small Groups are not Biblical!
Let’s make one thing clear, for certain: Small groups and house churches are not “biblical”. The church was started with meetings in homes, I gladly concede that point. But the church did not meet in homes for any command of scripture, or even any urging of the disciples. More likely, since the Jews and Romans began killing Christians for their beliefs, the church met privately to keep themselves out of the line of persecution, and because they did not have synagogues or other buildings they could use. More importantly, the size of their movement was not overwhelming, as it would later become when persecution was lifted. Read the rest of this entry »

Things to Expect in our Lifetime…

Articles & Related Thoughts No Comments »

The Era of the 21st Century is being viewed as a pivotal time in the history of our world. Large scale peace and prosperity have characterized this time where the nations have spent a large portion of their efforts growing their economies, seeking scientific discovery and advancing the education of their common people. While I do not wish to speak as though there are many places in the world where the light of our discovery and care for mankind have appeared totally absent…to look at the world overall is to look at the world in a positive light. We have progressed as a human race, as we continue progressing.

The question now becomes, what will the future bring? As knowledge reaches an all-time high, a generation is born that is characterized by a rejection of firm conviction toward the beliefs of all people. What will that generation lead our world into? What will the discoveries of science lead us to? How will the nations choose to act? And what will religion influence the world to do? What lies in the future of the world, further peace or chaos???

Here are a few suggested predictions within our generation:

  1. Robots that perform human tasks, that talk with humans will become a normality
  2. Vehicles will drive themselves
  3. At least one major war will break out between the world powers (largest nations)
  4. Devastation of at least one major U.S. city will occur.
  5. Colonization of other planets will be attempted
  6. Major human genetic engineering will take place
  7. Leaders will become more and more racially, religiously and gender diverse: a black president, a female president, a black pope.
