Those who know me, have probably heard some of my sentiments on Mac computers. To make it short and sweet–I’m not a fan. This picture shares some of the feelings I have on the subject:
My advice to anyone purchasing one is the following: A basic MacBook costs $900-1000. Go spend $900-1000 on a Windows laptop, and you will be just as thrilled. Just don’t spend $300 at Walmart on some off brand machine and then complain that Macs are better. No, their not better. They just don’t allow people to sell Mac’s OS on cheap machines.

Sorry Pat,
I admit… I’m a Mac snob. But now that I have that cleared up… Macs are better for all the reasons in your pie chart. Even the smaller slices of the pie are reason enough to switch. The problem with Dell, HP, Sony, Thinkpads: Windows. From the inside out the Mac wins in just about every category. However, as I read your latest post, I have to agree with many of your frustrations. Steve Jobs is a genius…the tradeoff is that the consumer is shafted with having to buy all the proprietary accessories for the mac. It’s a ripoff and is frustrating at times. I can’t last forever though. Eventually, as they continue to grow, they will have to cave in to allowing third part vendors to make products for the MAC. While the costs of MAC accessories are ridiculous, the tradeoff to that is that you are guaranteed to have a product that works and a company that will stand behind their product. Apple’s customer service is second to none.

A good response, I will admit.
However, I still hold to the response that the problem is not Windows…it is the cheap computers that most people run Windows on. If you look at the reliability ratings of a Mac, you’ll find that Toshiba, Sony, Asus, and Fujitsu products far outlast the Mac in terms of quality. The problem is, everyone buys Dell, Acer, and dare I say it…emachines. Blah! Trash.
The reason people like Mac is because it’s secure. They’re tired of dealing with viruses.
My top reasons to like Windows over Mac:
1. It’s cheaper: no one overseas buys Mac…only rich Americans can shell out the dough for these machines.
2. It’s flexible: Need accounting software? A GPS application? A card game: it’s probably free, just google search it.
